Malham Cove is a massive, curved formation of limestone rock. It stands some 260 feet high and over 980 feet wide with a vertical face, popular with rock climbers. Magnificent views are afforded from the top over Malham village and Malhamdale. From the village a road and footpath lead to the foot of the Cove and then steps form a steady climb to the top, where a vast limestone pavement is situated. The Cove has for many years been the home for a breeding pair of Peregrine Falcons which can regularly be seen swooping and diving in search of prey.
